An indigenous productive garden, chacra<\/em>, is quite a chaotic spot in the middle of a forest. I didn\u2019t recognize it at first sight, but than I noticed the cassava (yucca, manioc) plants. And remembered what Gerardo Reichel-Dolmatoff wrote about the dead trees: trunks are put in the garden because they produce ashes which contain ancestral energies.
