Museum Floor Travel
2008 - 2009
workshop and performance

Museum Floor Travel grew out of Mariëlle Videler's desire to create, in a constant and random flow, a series of brief, playful performances — each no longer than a minute. A composition with endless possible outcomes, presented by around twenty participants whom Videler had prepared beforehand in a workshop week. Recognizable by their yellow armbands, they work in pairs, taking turns as performer and assistant. Time, object, sound and space — each determined by chance — form the ingredients for a performance that unfolds in the moment. Scattered through the museum and lit by flashlights, an ever-shifting chain of fleeting, unpredictable moments emerges.
