Mountain
2018
project and actions
duration: three days and nights

Invited by Theater Artemis and Design Museum 's-Hertogenbosch, Mariëlle Videler created this project for the Amsterdam International Community School (AICS). The title Mountain refers to the idea "Mountain is School and School is Mountain." She questioned the metaphorical meanings of the word "mountain" — as a source, a home, a learning curve, a touristic attraction, a gold mine.
As a reference to the mining in Greenland — which she visited without seeing the landscape, for her project Blinded Hunt, 2017— she wore a copy of an anorak.
During the project Mountain, she slept in the library of the school and presented various solo and collaborative actions. On the first day, she pasted a huge sticker reading MOUNTAIN diagonally across the school's name on the facade. And on the final day, she formed a river flowing from top to bottom through the building, down the stairs, together with 500 students dressed in blue.
